Giggling little girls, weeping willows, and two parents in love – all the makins for a perfect night. in APRIL. I got a little bit behind on blogging (again. such is life), but I have made some 2019 half year goals and some new strategies to share MORE photos and some oldies. This session feels like years ago. It was one of those first new nights of spring where it was just starting to get a little bit more warmer outside. You know, the perfect weather that we don’t get near enough of here in Iowa. Now it’s almost unbearably hot and I’m waiting for this weather again! I so so enjoy working with this family. I first photographed them when Brooke, their youngest, was just a little one barely sitting up. My favorite thing about photographing Leah & Brooke is how different they are from each other. Leah comes forth with confidence and joyous energy and is the life of the party, while younger sister is a little bit harder to open up – but when she does – just the most contagious little laugh. NICKI + PAT • Iowa Engagement & Wedding Photographer

I have been waiting to post this session just so I can brag about how amazing their wedding is going to be. Which is TOMORROW!! :) And 150% can guarantee that these two, Nicki & Pat, are going to have THEEE wedding. Maybe I’m biased. Boho, lights, love, greenery, a victorian home (THEIR HOME!), and the cutest wedding attendants (Probably gonna get shown up by their cutie son, Otto, NBD) – can you say perfect?

Nicki & Pat are both personal friends of me and my family’s and to be able to help capture such special moments, with special attributes like their home & a bar they fell in love with – makes my heart explode. Seeing two strong people in love who are more powerful together as a couple is what this world needs. These photos were taken way back in FEB and to see how far I’ve come even with my own personal photography grown since then is also amazing. Enjoy a little mix of some family & engagement photos with my favorite family.

If you like the following, then this session’s perfect for you: Dogs. Love. Music. Drinking. Victorian houses. Amazing decor. ADORABLE PEOPLE IN LOVE. MORE LOVE. I mean, it’s ridiculous. Except I’m more of a cat person, but Neville is cute enough for me to make an exception. A dog that legit smiles – who does that? ;) Can you tell who has stolen every single heart in that home? RaeAnn and I go way back – the first memory I have of meeting her was back in 8th grade show choir – we were the awkward tall skinny girls and closely bonded over that. Come to find out that we have a lot more deeper similarities and the fact that I get to know people like this makes me feel very special. Being invited into her home and family and being able to admire her INCREDIBLE decorating skills… all while being given the creative freedom to do whatever I want. YOU GUYS. I am dying of love. THIS is exactly the type of family session that I am living for. You’ll see why once you scroll down ;) But a family that can play and just pretend that some weird lady isn’t in their face with a camera – pinch me. I would like to humble brag and go on about how naturally gifted I am at making people feel comfortable, but it also takes a little bit of chill & the willingness to let loose a little bit. You’ll want those moments in your family session – Just give in and have a little bit of fun ;)

ANYWAY. The Chappell family and I go pretty far back, and it’s one of those funny situations where “we met online and it’s hard to remember who friended who, but we’ve always just REALLY clicked and vibed really well” type things. maybe you have it. As an introvert, I’ve found that social media and the ability to break the ice online has helped me form some really great friendships. Momma Ren is one of those. This session was the first time I *finally* got to meet her and her two boys for the first time, and I surely hope it won’t be the last. MAYBE, just maybe… keep on the look out for some future puppet shots. If you’re a lover of the arts & pure creativity, check out her husband Seth’s business – Foam Foolery! But in the mean time, enjoy this purely joyous family that I love a whole lot!
